Job summary

Washington University in St. Louis seeks a Billing Associate to support patient scheduling and insurance information gathering. You’ll handle scheduling by phone or email, advise on financial assistance options, and act as a liaison between patients, staff, and healthcare professionals.

The role involves training peers, coordinating staff calendars, and ensuring accurate registration and documentation. A strong background in data entry and Epic EHR is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent high school certification or combination of education and/or experience.
• No specific certification/professional license is required for this position.
• Relevant Experience (5 Years)

Responsibilities

• Monitors the performance of the staff areas to ensure quality care and compliance with practice standards.
• Monitors and observes to ensure appointments are scheduled appropriately in accordance with departmental procedures to include scheduling transactions, registration review, pre-arrival processes and documentation using department-approved monitoring tools.
• Works with physician and/or appropriate personnel to appropriately triage patient phone calls, tasks and e-mails as needed.
• Assists in management of providers' schedules, scheduling templates and master schedules according to physician protocols and management direction.
• Assists in coordination of training, interoffice activities, schedules, programs, distribution of policy/procedure changes and related administrative needs; serves as primary trainer for new procedures and to new staff members.
• Assists in coordination of staff vacations, schedules and coverage, time sheets and accruals.
• Plans, schedules and/or carries out orientation program and staff training/development for established and new personnel under guidance of management.
