Job summary

American Rivers is recruiting a Junior Staff Accountant for a remote, nationwide position. You will support the Finance & Accounting team by ensuring GAAP-compliant recording of transactions, processing A/P, A/R, and GL activities, and assisting with audits and reporting.

The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, has strong attention to detail, and can work independently in a remote setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; internship or coursework is a plus.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to collaborate remotely.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook) and Adobe software.
• Ability to work independently with high attention to detail and meet deadlines.
• Experience in a remote work environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process accounts payable including vendor invoices, approvals, and coding.
• Manage accounts receivable tasks including invoicing and grant reimbursements.
• Record and reconcile general ledger entries and support month-end/year-end close.
• Prepare 1099 forms and assist with audits and grant reporting.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and relevant IRS/OMB regulations.
