Job summary

K&L Gates is seeking a Senior Research Analyst with Intellectual Property research expertise to join our global Research & Information Team. The analyst provides high-quality legal, business, and public records research, training, and consultation services to lawyers and allied professionals across multiple offices.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience performing complex research in a deadline-driven environment.
• Intellectual Property research experience is preferred.
• Master’s Degree in Library or Information Science (ALA-accredited) required or JD-holding with relevant library experience.
• Fundamental understanding of legal systems and current industry trends.
• Demonstrated expertise in research methods across legal and non-legal sources.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert-level research and consultative services across multiple time zones via centralized system.
• Conduct legal, business, and public records research using government and subscription resources.
• Evaluate sources for currency, reliability, relevance and cost-effectiveness.
• Present clear, organized results and integrate findings into final work products.
• Prioritize billable workflow and communicate around deadlines.
• Engage with new technologies including Generative AI tools where appropriate.
• Scope and respond to complex legal and client-related research requests.
• Lead research strategy for queries requiring expert analysis or project management.
• Deliver trainings and prepare instructional materials on research methods and tools.
