Job summary

K&L Gates is seeking a Senior Research Analyst with Intellectual Property research expertise to support lawyers with high-quality legal and business research. Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a law firm, government, court, academic, or corporate setting performing complex research.
• Applicants with Intellectual Property research experience are preferred.
• Master’s Degree in Library or Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution, preferably with law librarianship coursework; JD holders considered.
• Fundamental understanding of legal systems and concepts with awareness of the legal industry and trends.
• Expertise in Corporate & Securities; Intellectual Property; Finance & Investment Management; Public Policy; and/or International/Foreign Law research resources.
• Strong research methods with ability to evaluate sources for currency, reliability, relevance, and cost-effectiveness.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to organize and present findings clearly; strong collaboration.
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and billable workflows with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert-level research and consultative services to lawyers and allied professionals across time zones via ticketing system.
• Conduct legal, business, and public records research using government and subscription resources.
• Evaluate sources for currency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness; select optimal resources.
• Present clear, organized results and integrate findings into final work products.
• Prioritize billable workflows and meet or communicate around deadlines.
• Lead research strategy for complex queries and coordinate multiple team members.
• Develop and deliver training on research methods and resources.
• Complete knowledge management and time entry for billable research.
