Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a skilled Outpatient Interventional Radiology coder to join our remote coding team. You will assign CPT and ICD-10 codes, analyze edits, and ensure accurate medical necessity documentation for outpatient services. AAHIMA/AAPC credential and 2+ years IR coding experience are required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of Outpatient Facility Interventional Radiology coding experience.
• 2+ years of ICD-10 experience.
• Professional coder certification with AHIMA and/or AAPC (CCA, CCS, RHIA, RHIT, CPC-H/COC, CIC, CCS-P, CPC, CPC-A).

Responsibilities

• Identify CPT/ICD-10 coding for outpatient Acute Interventional Radiology services.
• Apply coding knowledge to analyze/correct CCI Edits and Medical Necessity Edits.
• Understand the Medicare Ambulatory Payment Classification (APC) codes.
• Abstract additional data elements during the chart review process when coding.
• Adhere to the ethical standards of coding per AAPC/AHIMA.
• Maintain required performance levels for coding quality and productivity.
• Provide documentation feedback to providers and query physicians when appropriate.
• Maintain up-to-date coding knowledge and participate in coding department meetings.
• Review and maintain records of charts coded, held, and missing.
• Perform additional responsibilities as identified by manager.
