Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a skilled outpatient Interventional Radiology coder to work remotely across the U.S. You will assign CPT/ICD-10 codes for outpatient IR services and ensure compliance with AAPC/AHIMA guidelines.

Maintain high-quality productivity, provide feedback to providers, and stay current with coding updates. The role requires 2+ years in outpatient IR coding, ICD-10 proficiency, and AHIMA/AAPC certification.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma / GED
• Professional coder certification with AHIMA and/or AAPC (CCA, CCS, RHIA, RHIT, CPC-H/COC, CIC, CCS-P, CPC, CPC-A)
• 2+ years of Outpatient Facility Interventional Radiology coding experience
• 2+ years of ICD-10 experience
• Ability to use a PC in a Windows environment, including Microsoft Excel and EMR systems
• Ability to work 40 hours a week 5 days per week including occasional overtime

Responsibilities

• Identify CPT and ICD-10 Code assignments for outpatient Acute Interventional Radiology services according to guidelines
• Apply coding knowledge to analyze/correct CCI Edits and Medical Necessity Edits
• Understand APC codes
• Abstract additional data elements during chart review
• Adhere to coding ethics per AAPC/AHIMA
• Maintain performance in coding quality and productivity
• Provide documentation feedback to providers and query physicians as needed
• Keep up-to-date coding knowledge via QM Manager and Directors
• Participate in coding department meetings and educational events
• Review and maintain records of charts coded, held, or missing
• Take on additional responsibilities as assigned by manager
