Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a professional medical coder to identify CPT and ICD-10 codes for outpatient Interventional Radiology and ensure compliance with official coding guidelines. You will apply knowledge to analyze CCI edits, understand APC codes, and abstract data during chart reviews.

This remote role requires AHIMA/AAPC certification, 2+ years IR coding experience, and proficiency with Windows, Excel and EMR systems.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Professional coder certification with AHIMA and/or AAPC credentials (annual Maintenance).
• 2+ years of Outpatient Facility Interventional Radiology coding experience.
• 2+ years of ICD-10 experience.
• PC skills in Windows, including Excel and EMR systems.
• Ability to work 40 hours per week, with occasional overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Identify CPT and ICD-10 Codes for outpatient Acute Interventional Radiology services while following guidelines.
• Apply coding knowledge to analyze and correct CCI Edits and Medical Necessity Edits.
• Understand Medicare APC codes.
• Abstract additional data elements during chart review when coding.
• Adhere to coding ethics per AAPC/AHIMA standards.
• Maintain performance in coding quality and productivity as directed.
• Provide documentation feedback to providers and query physicians when appropriate.
• Stay current on coding knowledge from QM Manager and Directors.
• Participate in coding department meetings and education.
• Review and maintain records of charts coded, held, or missing.
• Handle additional responsibilities assigned by manager.
