United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in New York/remote arrangement seeks a senior advisor to deepen UNEP-Canada partnerships and coordinate strategic engagement with Canadian authorities on climate, biodiversity and sustainable development.

The incumbent will analyze priorities, identify joint initiatives, and support fundraising while coordinating high-level meetings and briefings with government representatives and stakeholders across North America.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or equivalent in international relations or political science.
• Experience in environmental policy and multilateral matters is desirable.
• Fundraising and building partnerships in the environmental field is desirable.

Responsabilités

• Collaborate with UNEP to deepen and maintain strategic relationships with Canadian government institutions and other stakeholders.
• Identify opportunities for enhanced cooperation between UNEP and Canada through joint initiatives and partnerships.
• Provide strategic analysis on Canada’s environmental priorities including climate, biodiversity and pollution.
• Facilitate dialogue between UNEP and Canadian counterparts for multilateral cooperation.
• Participate in high-level meetings, consultations, outreach activities, and official missions with Canadian stakeholders.
• Plan and coordinate visits and missions to Canada, including stakeholder mapping and briefing materials.
• Identify opportunities for partnership development with governmental and other actors.
• Support resource mobilization by identifying funding opportunities and donor engagement.
• Monitor Canada’s environmental policy landscape and provide strategic updates and recommendations.
• Prepare strategic reports on strengthening UNEP-Canada’s relationship.
• Perform other duties as requested by UNEP New York Office.

Formation

Master’s degree in International Relations, Political Science, or an equivalent field

Bachelor’s degree with two (2) additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the Master’s degree
