OneOncology is seeking a Medical Collections Specialist to manage accounts receivable and resolve insurance issues for oncology services. The role involves patient and carrier communications, write-offs, and collaboration with other departments to ensure timely payments.

Qualified candidates have 3+ years in medical collections, with preferred oncology experience and knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid policies. This remote position supports nationwide coverage for the organization.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of medical collections experience, preferably in oncology.
• Radiation Oncology/Proton experience is a plus.
• Expertise in insurance policies and regulations for medical billing (Medicare/Medicaid).

Responsibilities

• Manages AR in the 60+ day category.
• Reviews EOBs within a two-week turnaround.
• Documents collection activity with notes.
• Prioritizes collection actions and follows up.
• Calls on outstanding balances from carriers promptly.
• Counsels patients on self-pay balances.
• Responds to inquiries promptly.
• Completes write-off adjustment forms with documentation.
• Maintains collection logs for sharing with teams.
• Advises supervisor of unusual delinquent accounts.
• Prepares daily reports with notes.
• Gathers information from other departments for collections.
• Understands HCPCS/ICD/CPT coding and carrier requirements.
