Job summary

OneOncology is seeking a skilled Medical Billing & Collections Specialist to optimize patient accounts and insure timely payments for oncology services. This role focuses on AR management, payer follow-up, and resolving denials with a patient-centric approach.

Ideal candidates bring at least 3 years of medical collections experience, familiarity with HCPCS/ICD/CPT coding, and strong analytical skills. Oncology billing experience and Medicare/Medicaid knowledge are a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in medical collections.
• Oncology healthcare setting experience preferred.
• Radiation Oncology/Proton experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Works and maintains every account in the AR in the 45+ day categories.
• Reviews EOBs within a two-week turnaround.
• Documents accurate collection activity in the tracking notes.
• Evaluates status of accounts and prioritizes collection action.
• Calls on outstanding balances due from carriers in a timely manner.
• Counsel patients on outstanding self-pay balances.
• Responds to inquiries promptly and accurately.
• Prepares write-off adjustment forms for accounts that need review.
• Review claim edit failures and correct billing for clean claim submissions.
• Advise Supervisor of unusual delinquent accounts.
• Prepares daily user reports for Supervisor review.
• Work with RCM team to ensure clean claims and timely payment.
• Maintain understanding of HCPCS/ICD/CPT oncology coding and carrier requirements.
