Job summary

Sonoran Desert Institute is seeking an experienced Instructional Designer to join our Curriculum Team. The role centers on creating engaging online courses for higher education students, including developing course materials, assessments, and multimedia resources within Canvas.

You will partner with subject matter experts, ensure alignment with learning objectives, and support ongoing quality assurance while staying current with distance education trends.

Qualifications

• Minimum three years of professional experience in instructional design.
• Experience in higher education distance education is preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of adult learning principles and distance instruction.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with subject matter experts to analyze learning needs and identify objectives.
• Create course and program documentation including blueprints and curriculum maps.
• Design and develop online course materials with multimedia elements and assessments.
• Develop course shells, syllabi, home pages, and modules in Canvas.
• Source media and ensure proper attribution.
