Job summary

Sonoran Desert Institute is seeking an experienced Instructional Designer to join the Curriculum Team. Lead the design of engaging online courses, collaborate with subject matter experts, and ensure accessibility across modules and assessments for distance learners.

You will develop course shells, syllabi, and LMS content in Canvas using native tools and add-ons, while sourcing media and supporting QA to maintain alignment with learning objectives.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instructional Design or related field.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with subject matter experts to identify learning objectives and develop course documentation.
• Apply adult learning principles and accessibility standards to create engaging content.
• Design and develop online course materials with assessments and discussions.
• Develop course shells, syllabi, and LMS pages using Canvas and tools.
• Source and license external media with proper citation.
• Support Academic Quality Assurance to ensure accuracy and alignment.
• Stay current with trends in instructional design and distance education.
• Troubleshoot faculty and student course access issues.
• Participate in team meetings and professional development.
• Collaborate to publish SOPs for consistency.
• Other work as assigned.
