Zusammenfassung

Sonoran Desert Institute is seeking an experienced Instructional Designer to join our Curriculum Team. This remote role focuses on creating engaging online courses, updating content, and developing assessments for higher education students.

You will work with subject matter experts to design course shells in Canvas, ensure accessibility, and maintain alignment with learning objectives. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifikationen

• Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instructional Design or related field.
• If degree is in another subject, a certificate or formal training in instructional design/eLearning (≥16 credits) is required.
• Minimum 3 years of professional instructional design experience.
• Minimum 1 year of instructional design experience at a higher education institution.
• Advanced knowledge of adult learning principles and distance instruction.
• Experience with learning management systems and course-authoring software.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills.
• Some travel required (up to 10%).

Aufgaben

• Collaborate with SMEs to analyze learning needs and identify objectives for new/revised courses.
• Apply instructional design principles and accessibility standards to create engaging content.
• Design and develop online course materials including assessments and activities.
• Develop course shells in the LMS ( Canvas ) using authoring tools like Canvas native tools, CidiLabs, Design Plus, Canva.
• Source and license external media with proper citation.
• Support Academic Quality Assurance processes for accuracy and alignment with objectives.
• Stay current with trends in instructional design and distance education.
• Troubleshoot faculty and student course access issues.
• Participate in team meetings and professional development.
• Develop and publish SOPs for the Curriculum Staff.
