Job summary

Sonoran Desert Institute seeks an experienced Instructional Designer to join the Curriculum Team. You will collaborate with subject matter experts and QA staff to create engaging online courses, with emphasis on course design, updates, content development, and assessments.

In this role, you will develop course shells in Canvas, source licensed media, and ensure accessibility and alignment with learning outcomes. Some travel may be required; remote work is limited to specified states.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instructional Design or a related subject.
• If degree is in another subject, certificate or training in instructional design/eLearning equivalent to 16 credit hours.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with SMEs to analyze learning needs and identify objectives for new/revised courses.
• Apply adult learning principles and accessibility standards to create student-centered content.
• Design and develop engaging online course materials, including multimedia and assessments.
• Develop course shells, syllabi, and modules in the LMS (Canvas) using authoring tools.
• Source external media with proper citations and licensing.
• Support Academic Quality Assurance to ensure alignment with learning objectives.
• Stay current with trends in instructional design and distance education.
