Sonoran Desert Institute is seeking an experienced Instructional Designer for a remote role limited to residents in AZ, FL, GA, MI, NV, NC, OH, SC, TN, TX, UT, or VA. You will join the Curriculum Team to create engaging online courses and updates for higher education students and faculty.

Responsibilities include design, development, and assessment creation, collaboration with subject matter experts, and ensuring accessibility and learning outcomes. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Formación

• Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instructional Design or related subject.
• Certificate or formal training in instructional design/eLearning (≥16 credit hours) if degree is in another subject.
• Minimum three years of professional instructional design experience.
• Minimum one year of instructional design experience at a higher education institution
• Advanced knowledge of adult learning principles and distance instruction
• Practical experience with learning management systems and course-authoring software
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills
• Some travel up to 10%

Responsabilidades

• Collaborate with subject matter experts to analyze learning needs and identify learning objectives for new and revised distance learning courses.
• Apply instructional design principles and accessibility standards to create student-centered content.
• Design and develop engaging online course materials including assessments and activities.
• Develop course shells, syllabi, modules in the LMS (Canvas) using tools like native Canvas tools, CidiLabs, Design Plus, and Canva.
• Source licenses for external media and cite resources appropriately.
• Support Academic Quality Assurance processes for accuracy and alignment with objectives.
• Stay current with trends in instructional design and distance education.
• Troubleshoot course access and functionality issues for faculty and students.
• Participate in team meetings and professional development.
• Help publish SOPs for department-wide understanding.
