Job summary

Pena4 Inc is seeking an Inpatient Medical Coder (CCS certified) for a 100% remote role. The candidate will handle IP/OP coding with a focus on accurate ICD-10-CM/PCS coding, CPT usage, and DRG assignments. Immediate start; test required for IP/OP coding proficiency.

Requires at least 5 years IP PCS coding experience, 3 years OP preferred, and a CCS certificate. W2 regular employment with daytime hours and regular shift. Cerner, PowerChart, 3M, and EPIC experience a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of inpatient PCS coding experience required.
• Minimum 3 years of outpatient coding experience preferred.
• CCS certificate required.
• 100% remote position with regular day shift duties.
• Must complete and pass IP and/or OP coding assessment test.

Responsibilities

• Review complete medical records to determine principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures.
• Sequence diagnoses and procedures with high accuracy (aim 95%+).
• Optimize DRG assignments for coded records with computer system assistance.
• Maintain consistent productivity and quality levels.
• Request additional information when needed from staff or physicians.
• Stay current on coding guidelines and share updates with colleagues.
• Complete assignments as directed by management.
• Seek continuing education opportunities and participate in team goals.
• Collaborate with team to meet client-specific goals.
• Perform related duties or special projects as assigned.
