Job summary

Pena4 Inc seeks an experienced Inpatient Medical Coder (CCS certified) for a 100% remote position. The role requires 5+ years of IP PCS coding experience; OP experience is a plus. CCS certification is mandatory. Regular day shift, weekdays, full-time, W2 employment. Start date is immediate, with a coding assessment test required.

Ideal candidates are proficient in ICD-10-CM/PCS, HCPCS CPT, and stay updated on coding guidelines. Cerner, PowerChart, 3M, and EPIC systems experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of IP PCS coding experience.
• At least 3 years OP coding experience preferred.
• CCS certificate required.

Responsibilities

• Examines the complete medical record to determine principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures.
• Accurately sequences diagnoses and procedures with high accuracy.
• Strives to obtain optimal DRG assignments with computer aid.
• Maintains productivity and quality at a steady level.
• Holds accounts when more information is needed and coordinates with staff.
• Keeps current on coding guidelines and shares knowledge with colleagues.
• Completes assignments as directed by management.
• pursues continuing education.
• Works as a team member to meet department and client goals.
• Performs related duties or special projects as assigned.
