Job summary

Pena4 Inc. is seeking an experienced Inpatient Medical Coder (CCS certified) for a 100% remote position. The role requires at least five years of IP PCS coding experience and a CCS credential, with three years of OP coding preferred. This is a W2 regular employment with full-time hours and a day shift.

The coder will work with Cerner, PowerChart, 3M and EPIC systems, and will complete an IP/OP assessment as part of the hiring process. Immediate start date is available.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of IP PCS coding experience.
• CCS certification is required.
• Remote work available for this role with full-time schedule.

Responsibilities

• Examine complete medical records to determine principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures.
• Sequence diagnoses and procedures accurately to maintain high coding quality.
• Aim for optimal DRG assignments with computer-assisted guidance.
• Maintain consistent productivity and quality levels.
• Escalate for information when necessary to ensure code/DRG accuracy.
• Keep current on coding guidelines and share updates with the team.
• Complete assignments as directed by management with reliability.
• Pursue ongoing coding education and professional development.
• Collaborate with team to meet client goals and targets.
• Handle special projects and related duties as assigned.
