Job summary

Pena4 Inc is seeking an experienced Inpatient Medical Coder (CCS certified) for a 100% remote, full-time position. You will apply ICD-10-CM/PCS, HCPCS, and CPT coding to inpatient and outpatient accounts, ensuring accurate DRG assignments and high-quality documentation.

The role requires at least 5 years of IP PCS coding, CCS certification, and proficiency with Cerner, PowerChart, 3M, and EPIC. Start date is immediate; a coding assessment will be administered.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of inpatient PCS coding experience.
• CCS certificate is required.
• Remote work arrangement (100% remote) with full-time hours.
• W2 Regular Employment; immediate start.

Responsibilities

• Examine the complete medical record to determine principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures.
• Sequence diagnoses and procedures for optimal DRG assignment with target 95% accuracy.
• Assign DRGs with decision support to maximize appropriate coding.
• Maintain consistent productivity and quality while meeting deadlines.
• Request additional information as needed from staff for accurate coding.
• Stay current with coding guidelines and share updates with colleagues.
• Complete all assignments as directed by management.
• Seek continuing education opportunities to maintain certification.
• Collaborate with team to meet department and client goals.
• Perform related duties or special projects as assigned.
