Job summary

Pena4 Inc is seeking an Inpatient Medical Coder (CCS certified) for a 100% remote, full-time role. The candidate must have at least 5 years of IP PCS coding experience and 3 years of OP coding (preferred). CCS certification is required; familiar with Cerner, PowerChart, 3M and EPIC systems.

Start date is immediate and testing will be required as part of the application process. Responsibilities include reviewing complete medical records, accurate diagnosis/procedure sequencing, DRG optimization,

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of IP PCS coding experience.
• CCS certificate is required.
• At least 3 years OP coding experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Examines the complete medical record to accurately determine principal & secondary diagnoses, procedures and complications.
• Accurately sequences diagnoses & procedures, maintains 95% accuracy.
• Strives to obtain optimal DRG assignments with computer system assistance.
• Demonstrates a consistent level of performance and productivity.
• Holds accounts when more information is required for accurate code/DRG assignment.
• Keeps coding literature current; shares information with colleagues.
• Completes all assignments as directed by management.
• Expresses interest in continuing education.
• Works as a team member to meet department and client goals.
• Performs related duties or special projects as assigned.
