Qualifications

• Requires CCS certification.
• At least 5 years IP PCS coding experience.
• At least 3 years OP coding experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Examines the complete medical record to determine principal & secondary diagnoses, procedures, and complications.
• Accurately sequences diagnoses & procedures, maintains 95% accuracy.
• Strives to obtain optimal DRG assignments on each record coded with assistance of computer system.
• Demonstrates consistent performance; maintains productivity and quality.
• Holds accounts when more information is needed for accurate code/DRG assignment and contacts staff as needed.
• Keeps current on coding guidelines and shares information with colleagues.
• Completes assignments as directed by management.
• Shows interest in continuing education.
• Works as a team member to meet department and client goals.
• Performs related duties or special projects as assigned.
