Job summary

Pena4 Inc. is seeking an Inpatient Medical Coder (CCS certified) for a 100% remote role based in the United States. The position requires IP PCS coding experience of at least 5 years and a CCS certificate, with 3+ years OP coding preferred.

Start date is immediate; W2 regular employment. System experience includes Cerner, Power Chart, 3M and EPIC. The coder will be responsible for accurate coding of inpatient and outpatient accounts, with emphasis on DRG optimization and adherence to current

Qualifications

• IP PCS coding experience with inpatient records is required.
• CCS certificate is required.
• At least 5 years IP PCS coding experience, 3 years OP coding experience preferred.
• Experience with Cerner, PowerChart, 3M and EPIC systems.

Responsibilities

• Examine the complete medical record to determine principal & secondary diagnoses and procedures.
• Accurately sequence diagnoses and procedures, aiming for 95% accuracy.
• Strive for optimal DRG assignments with computer-assisted guidance.
• Maintain productivity and quality levels.
• Escalate when additional information is needed for accurate coding/DRG assignments.
• Keep current on coding guidelines and share updates with colleagues.
• Complete assignments as directed by management.
• Pursue continuing education and professional growth.
• Collaborate with team to meet department/client goals.
• Perform related duties or special projects as required.
