Job summary

The Elite Job seeks an experienced Inpatient Coding Specialist to support hospital documentation review and accurate inpatient coding in U.S. settings. You will interpret clinical records, assign ICD-10-CM/ICD-10-PCS codes, and ensure compliance with coding guidelines and HIPAA.

Collaborate with physicians, CDI and HIM teams, and revenue cycle colleagues to resolve documentation gaps, improve coding accuracy, and support compliant reimbursement. Remote or hybrid options may be available.

Qualifications

• Diploma/associate/bachelor in health information or related field preferred.
• Certification in medical coding preferred or required for inpatient coding roles.
• Experience with inpatient records and ICD-10-CM/ICD-10-PCS advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Review inpatient records and supporting docs to identify diagnoses and procedures.
• Assign accurate ICD-10-CM/ICD-10-PCS codes following guidelines.
• Identify documentation gaps and collaborate with CDI/HIM teams to resolve them.
• Ensure compliance with privacy rules (HIPAA) and coding standards.
• Support audits, quality reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Communicate coding issues clearly to clinicians and stakeholders.
• Stay updated on coding changes and best practices.
