Job summary

Memorial Hermann Health System seeks an experienced clinical coder/auditor to ensure accurate coding and reimbursement across inpatient and outpatient settings. You will conduct audits, educate staff, and uphold AHIMA coding standards while supporting safe, compassionate care.

The role requires RHIT/RHIA/CCS/CIC or AHIMA/AAPC certifications and a minimum of four years in hospital coding or auditing, with strong ICD-10-CM/CPT knowledge.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• RHIT/RHIA/CCA/CCS/CIC certifications required for inpatient coding.
• Outpatient coding requires RHIT/RHIA or AHIMA/AAPC certification.
• Minimum 4 years of hospital coding or auditing experience.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT coding principles.
• Experience with 3M Coding applications.
• Knowledge of reimbursement systems and regulations.
• Good communication skills (oral and written).

Responsibilities

• Conducts regular coding audits and monitors coding accuracy.
• Develops educational sessions for coding staff.
• Serves as a resource on coding standards and guidelines.
• Designs audit tools to monitor coding accuracy.
• Keeps abreast of coding guidelines and reimbursement requirements.
• Performs trend analyses on coding practices.
• Adheres to AHIMA Standards of Ethical Coding.
• Maintains patient safety and quality service within budget and policies.
• Supports professional growth and mentoring of staff.
