Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• RHIT/RHIA/CCA/CCS/CIC certification required.
• Four years of hospital coding or auditing experience.
• Experience in a level 1 trauma facility preferred.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT coding guidelines.
• Experience with 3M Coding applications and resolving coding edits.
• Working knowledge of reimbursement systems and related policies.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular coding audits and coordinate ongoing monitoring of coding accuracy.
• Develop and coordinate educational sessions for coding staff on documentation and coding accuracy.
• Serve as a resource for coding staff on organization-wide coding standards and guidelines.
• Design audit tools to monitor the accuracy of clinical coding.
• Keep abreast of coding guidelines and reimbursement reporting requirements.
• Conduct trend analyses to identify patterns and variations in coding practices.
• Ensure compliance with AHIMA Standards of Ethical Coding and official coding guidelines.
• Support safe care practices and adhere to organizational policies and budgets.
