Job summary

Datavant is seeking an Inpatient Auditing Specialist to support coding quality, education, and external payer reviews. This fully remote role offers flexible scheduling and may include PRN support for IA IP auditing. Spinal experience and strong query writing skills are a plus, with a preference for 20 hours/week.

You will audit inpatient facility coding using MS DRG or APR DRGs, provide detailed rationale, stay current with regulatory changes, and educate coders through the auditing process.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of facility inpatient coding experience and/or auditing.
• Maintain 95% DRG accuracy rate.
• Experience with Epic, Cerner, and other prevalent EMRs.
• CCS certification required; RHIA/RHIT preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs Inpatient Facility coding audits according to scope of work for onboarding, focused, service level agreements or other reviews.
• Provides rich and concise rationale explaining the reasoning behind changes with references and documentation locations.
• Keeps abreast of regulatory changes.
• Organizes and prioritizes multiple cases concurrently to ensure workflow and turnaround time.
• Provides coder education via the auditing process.
• Function in a professional, efficient, and positive manner.
• Adhere to AHIMA's code of ethics.
• Must be customer-service focused and demonstrate professionalism and dependability.
• Handle high complexity of work and decisions.
• Demonstrate strong organizational, teamwork, and leadership skills.
