Job summary

Datavant is seeking an Inpatient Auditing Specialist to support coding quality assessments, external payer reviews, and education on coding workflows. This fully remote role offers a flexible schedule and optional PRN support for IA IP auditing, with spinal experience and strong query-writing skills preferred.

20 hours/week recommended. You will audit inpatient facility coding for DRG accuracy, provide actionable rationale, and stay current with regulatory changes while maintaining a high level

Qualifications

• 5+ years of facility inpatient coding experience and/or auditing.
• Maintain 95% DRG accuracy rate.
• Experience with various software including Epic, Cerner, and other prevalent EMRs.

Responsibilities

• Performs Inpatient Facility coding audits according to scope of work, for onboarding, focused reviews, SLA or other types of reviews, using MS DRG or APR DRGs.
• Provides rich and concise rationale explaining the reasoning behind any identified changes, including references and documentation locations.
• Keeps abreast of regulatory changes.
• Organizes and prioritizes multiple cases to ensure workflow and turnaround.
• Provides coder education via the auditing process.
• Function in a professional, efficient, and positive manner.
• Adhere to AHIMA’s code of ethics.
• Customer-service focused and professional.
• High complexity of work and decision making.
• Strong organizational, teamwork, and leadership skills.
