Job summary

Cognizant is seeking an Inpatient Coder (CCS Certified) to support one or more Cognizant clients in a remote, work-from-home environment. You will review medical documentation, assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes, and query physicians to clarify documentation while maintaining high accuracy and productivity.

The role requires CCS/RHIT/RHIA/CPC/CIC credentials and 3+ years inpatient experience, with Epic knowledge and MS Office skills.

Qualifications

• Active CCS, RHIT, RHIA, CPC or CIC credential required.
• Three years of facility-based inpatient coding experience (ICD-10-CM/PCS).
• Level 1 Trauma coding experience required.
• Epic experience required.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and payer regulations.

Responsibilities

• Review documentation to code ICD-10-CM diagnoses and ICD-10-PCS procedures.
• Query physicians to clarify diagnoses and procedures.
• Assign accurate codes using encoder application per policy and regulations.
• Perform peer reviews of coding auditors/coders.
• Complete reports as requested.
