Job summary

Cognizant is seeking an Inpatient Coder (CCS Certified) to work remotely. The role requires 3+ years of facility-based inpatient coding experience, including ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS, with Epic proficiency and Level 1 Trauma coding expertise. You will query physicians, ensure accuracy, and maintain productivity in a fast-paced remote environment.

Qualifications

• Three years of facility-based inpatient coding experience (ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, MS-DRG).
• Level 1 Trauma coding experience required.
• Epic experience required.
• Able to interpret medical records and apply regulations.

Responsibilities

• Review documentation to code diagnoses (ICD-10-CM) and procedures (ICD-10-PCS).
• Query physicians for clarification when needed.
• Assign accurate codes using an electronic encoder per policy and guidelines.
• Perform peer reviews of HIM coders and auditors.
• Meet accuracy and productivity standards in a remote setting.
