Job summary

Savista is seeking a remote Inpatient Coder to review clinical documentation and assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes for Facility Inpatient records. You will validate MS-DRG calculations and ensure accurate abstraction of clinical data for billing and regulatory compliance.

Prerequisites include AHIMA or AAPC credentials and at least two years of hands-on inpatient coding experience, with strong knowledge of coding guidelines and privacy regulations.

Qualifications

• Must pass pre-employment skills assessment.
• Active AHIMA credentials (RHIA, RHIT, CCS) or active AAPC credentials (COC, CCS-P, CPC) or related specialty.
• Two (2) years of hands-on coding experience with Acute Inpatient records.
• Knowledge of ICD-10 CM & PCS, medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, pharmacology and pathophysiology.

Responsibilities

• Select and sequence ICD-10 CM and PCS codes for designated inpatient types.
• Review and analyze clinical records to ensure MS-DRG assignments reflect diagnoses/procedures.
• Abstract clinical data after review to support diagnoses, procedures and discharge disposition.
• Complete assigned work functions using appropriate resources.
• Serve as a resource to client staff for data integrity and compliant coding practices.
• Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA.
• Participate in meetings, trainings, and conference calls; keep current with coding guidelines.
• Contribute to Savista's Compliance Program and report concerns as needed.
