Job summary

Savista is seeking an Inpatient Coder to review clinical documentation and assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes for Facility Inpatient records, ensuring accurate MS-DRG calculations for reimbursement. The role supports data integrity and compliance with HIPAA while collaborating with client staff as needed.

The ideal candidate holds an AHIMA or AAPC credential and has two years of hands-on inpatient coding experience, with strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS and coding guidelines.

Qualifications

• Active AHIMA credential (RHIA, RHIT or CCS) or active AAPC credential (COC, CCS-P, or CPC) or related specialty credential.
• Two years of recent and relevant hands-on inpatient coding experience.
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, MS-DRG calculations and HIPAA/compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Select and sequence ICD-10-CM and PCS codes for inpatient records to support billing and reimbursement.
• Review clinical records to ensure MS-DRG assignments reflect diagnoses and procedures.
• Abstract clinical data from records to support discharge disposition and accuracy of coding.
• Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and other regulations.
• Participate in ongoing education to stay current with coding guidelines and third-party requirements.
