Job summary

Cedars Sinai is hiring an Hospital Inpatient Coder to assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes by reviewing clinical documentation. The role requires understanding MS-DRG and APR-DRG rules and will work with the CDI team to ensure complete and accurate coding profiles.

Responsibilities include data abstraction for reporting and collaboration with physicians to clarify documentation. A strong focus on accuracy and compliance is essential in this role.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years’ work experience doing code assignment in a healthcare setting.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Certifications: RHIT/RHIA/CPC/CCS/CCSP required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes by reviewing documentation.
• Identify principal diagnosis, comorbidities/complications, and present on admission indicators.
• Determine sequencing to represent DRG and MS-DRG/APR-DRG knowledge.
• Abstract data elements for reporting and statistical capture.
• Communicate with CDI team to ensure complete coding profile.
• Translate medical records to standardized codes for Cedars Sinai Health System.
