Job summary

Cedars-Sinai is seeking a Hospital Inpatient Coder to assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes by reviewing clinical documentation and determining the principal diagnosis, comorbidities, and DRG for each stay. You will work with EPIC CS-Link and related systems to ensure accurate, timely coding for patient care.

Collaborating with the CDI team to align clinical and coding approaches, you will identify documentation gaps, resolve complex edits, and maintain knowledge of MS-DRG and APR-DRG.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience coding in a healthcare setting.
• Professional coding certifications required at hire.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10-CM/ICD-10-PCS codes from documentation.
• Identify principal diagnosis, comorbidities, and DRG sequencing.
• Abstract data for reporting and statistics in CS systems.
• Collaborate with CDI team to align coding approaches.
• Resolve complex inpatient edits using current guidelines.
