Job summary

Enjoin is seeking an experienced Inpatient Clinical Coder to join our growing remote team. You will accurately assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes for complex inpatient records while ensuring documentation reflects the patient’s severity of illness, risk of mortality, quality outcomes, and appropriate reimbursement.

Your expertise will directly support hospitals in maintaining coding accuracy, regulatory compliance, and data integrity.

Qualifications

• AHIMA credential required.
• 3+ years inpatient coding experience.
• Experience coding at a large acute care hospital.
• Proficient in ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS.
• Strong knowledge of MS-DRGs and APR-DRGs.
• POA indicators and Official Coding Guidelines.
• Familiar with Coding Clinic guidance.
• Experience with EMRs (Epic, Cerner, Meditech) and encoder software.
• Excellent analytical thinking and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.

Responsibilities

• Review complex inpatient records and assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes.
• Ensure accurate MS-DRG and APR-DRG assignments using Guidelines and Coding Clinic.
• Capture POA indicators and identify diagnoses affecting SOI, ROM, HACs, HCCs, SDOH, quality measures, and reimbursement.
• Identify NTAP opportunities and qualifying procedures for complete reimbursement.
• Validate discharge disposition documentation for coding accuracy.
• Maintain high coding quality while meeting productivity targets.
• Stay current on ICD-10 updates, Guidelines, payer requirements, and best practices.
• Uphold AHIMA Standards of Ethical Coding and confidentiality.
• Collaborate with internal coding leadership and quality review teams.
