Qualifications

• Inpatient coding experience 2+ years preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS Coding classification system and DRGs.
• Coding certification / credential through AHIMA or AAPC and in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Use a computerized encoding system to assign inpatient codes accurately.
• Sequence diagnoses and procedures per ICD-10-CM/PCS and UHDDS guidelines.
• Support external reporting and reimbursement requirements with accurate coding.
• Query providers for clarification when documentation is incomplete or ambiguous.
• Pursue continuing education to advance coding knowledge and practice.
• Maintain ethical coding practices and comply with internal policies.
