Qualifications

• High School Diploma/G.E.D. - required
• Prior hospital medical coding experience preferred
• Prior experience with 3M 360 and EPIC system preferred
• Must score 80%+ on assessment; new coders with higher scores considered
• Excellent computer skills; able to navigate multiple systems
• Remote work ability; protect confidential health information
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS or CPT-4 coding systems
• Detail-oriented and productive

Responsibilities

• Use a computerized encoding system to facilitate accurate coding
• Sequence diagnoses and procedures per ICD-10-CM/PCS and UHDDS guidelines
• Query providers for clarification on documentation gaps
• Advance coding knowledge through continuing education
• Ensure compliance with coding policies and standards
• Attend meetings and participate in team huddles
• Maintain secure remote coding environment and organized shared drives
