Job summary

Albany Med Health System is seeking an Inpatient Hospital Coder to apply ICD-10-CM/PCS coding for inpatient services. This fully remote role requires 2+ years inpatient coding experience and AHIMA/AAPC certification preferred.

Responsibilities include accurate coding to maximize reimbursement, querying providers when documentation is unclear, and complying with coding rules and HIPAA. Flexible scheduling and no relocation needed.

Qualifications

• Inpatient Coding Experience 2+ years preferred.
• High School Diploma/G.E.D. - required.
• Prior hospital/inpatient coding experience - preferred.
• Prior experience with 3M 360 and EPIC system - preferred.
• Applicants must score 80% or above on assessment; new coders considered.
• Coding certification / credential through AHIMA or AAPC and in good standing - required.

Responsibilities

• Use a computerized encoding system to assign inpatient codes per ICD-10-CM/PCS.
• Support external reporting and reimbursement data elements with accurate coding.
• Query providers for clarification when documentation is incomplete or ambiguous.
• Demonstrate integrity and ethical coding practices.
• Advance coding knowledge through continuing education.
• Comply with internal coding policies and regulatory guidelines.
