Job summary

Pena4 Inc invites applications for an Inpatient Medical Coder (CCS certified) in a 100% remote role. The position requires at least 5 years of IP PCS coding experience and CCS certification, with 3+ years of outpatient coding preferred. W2 regular employment and daytime shifts with immediate start.

Coding assessments will be required for consideration. Proficiency in ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS, and DRG assignments is essential. System experience includes Cerner, PowerChart, 3M, and EPIC.

Qualifications

• CCS certificate required.
• Minimum 5 years of IP PCS Coding experience.
• Minimum 3 years of OP coding experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Examine full medical record to determine principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures.
• Sequence diagnoses and procedures accurately with target 95% accuracy.
• Strive for optimal DRG assignments with computer system assistance.
• Maintain consistent performance, productivity, and quality.
• Escalate when more information is needed for accurate coding/DRG.
• Stay current on coding guidelines and share updates with team.
• Complete assignments as directed by management.
• Pursue continuing education.
• Collaborate as a team to meet goals.
• Perform duties or special projects as required.
