Job summary

Pena4 Inc. is seeking an Inpatient Medical Coder (CCS certified) to join our remote team. The role requires 5+ years of IP PCS coding experience and CCS certification, with a focus on accurate coding across inpatient and outpatient accounts.

The coder will utilize ICD-10-CM/PCS, HCPCS/CPT, and reference materials to ensure precise coding. This is a 100% remote position with regular day shifts on a full-time W2 basis, starting immediately and with an assessment test as part of the process.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of IP PCS coding experience required.
• CCS certification is required.
• Must be prepared to complete and pass an IP/OP coding assessment test.

Responsibilities

• Examine complete medical records to determine principal/secondary diagnoses and procedures.
• Sequence diagnoses and procedures to maintain high accuracy.
• Aim for optimal DRG assignments with computer-assisted guidance.
• Maintain consistent performance, productivity, and quality.
• Escalate missing information to appropriate staff for accurate coding.
• Keep current with coding guidelines and share updates with colleagues.
• Complete assignments as directed by management.
• Pursue continuing education opportunities.
• Collaborate with team to meet department and client goals.
• Perform any related duties or special projects as assigned.
