Job summary

GovCIO is hiring an Infrastructure Security Lead for a US Coast Guard program. This fully remote role is located in the United States and requires a Secret clearance and CISSP certification.

Lead security controls, risk management, and incident response across ICAM, network security, and ATO lifecycles. You will collaborate with IT, DevOps, and cloud teams to implement secure infrastructure, drive security roadmaps, and mentor a skilled security team.

Qualifications

• 12 years of progressive information security experience.
• 3–5 years in a leadership role.
• Clearance required: active Secret clearance.
• Certification required: CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional)

Responsibilities

• Oversee security posture across network security, ICAM, and ATO programs.
• Design, implement, and operate secure infrastructure with governance alignment.
• Manage and mature security controls: segmentation, firewalls, VPNs, WAF, MFA, SSO, privileged access.
• Lead security architecture reviews, threat modeling, and risk assessments.
• Establish incident response, detection, and recovery capabilities; lead major incidents.
• Define security policies, standards, and procedures aligning with NIST, CIS, ISO 27001, FISMA, FedRAMP.
• Mentor and develop a high-performing security team (engineers, analysts, IAM specialists).
• Collaborate with IT, DevOps/DevSecOps, and cloud teams for secure-by-default infrastructure.
• Oversee vulnerability management, patching, configuration management, and baselines hardening.
• Monitor security metrics and KPIs; report to executives and stakeholders.
• Maintain runbooks and playbooks for security operations and incident handling.
