Job summary

Qualifications

• Formal ICD-9-CM/CPT coding education is required.
• RHIT/RHIA/CCS certification is required or preferred.
• Minimum one year of acute care coding experience or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Reviews inpatient, ambulatory, observation, ED and outpatient accounts to assign ICD-10 and CPT codes and DRGs.
• Interprets health record content to ensure diagnoses and procedures are supported by documentation.
• Maintains coding accuracy above 95% and queries physicians when necessary.
• Reviews billing edits and makes corrections to coding, disposition and DRG assignments as indicated.
