Job summary

First National Technology Solutions (FNTS) seeks a Sr IBM iSeries Engineer to maintain customer IBM i environments and drive problem solving for break/fix incidents. You will support tape save/restore, replication, and OS upgrades while expanding customer environments and ensuring data protection. This is a remote position across the US with no sponsorship.

Strong CL skills and communication are required. The role sits in a managed services engineering team and requires experience with MIMIX,

Qualifications

• IBM iSeries System Administration experience (10+ years)
• Knowledge of i/OS from V5R4 to V7R3 and POWER hardware
• Experience configuring LPARs using HMC
• Experience with storage environments (JBOD/RAID/SAN) and performance considerations
• Familiarity with backup/migration tools (BRMS) and tape libraries
• Experience with TCP/IP (IPv4/IPv6) and journal management
• Experience with CL programming and debugging
• Strong communication and independent work style

Responsibilities

• Respond to incidents and requests with in-depth analysis and solutions
• Proactively review issues to prevent recurrence as part of Continuous Improvement
• Perform reporting and drive special activities (DR testing, OS upgrades)
• Maintain IBM i OS and Licensed Programs (LPPs)
• Assist migration of customer systems to FNTS or remote management setup
• Implement roadmap-driven technologies and new OS features
• Install software releases and coordinate timing/testing with customers
• Maintain templates and documentation; contribute to infrastructure projects as IBM i SME
