Job summary

First National Technology Solutions (FNTS) is seeking a Sr. IBM iSeries Engineer to maintain IBM i environments and drive efficient problem solving.

The role supports remote management across the US, handling tape restore, replication, and backups, while contributing to project work and system upgrades. The ideal candidate has extensive IBM iSeries experience, strong knowledge of i/OS and POWER hardware, plus CL programming and automation skills.

Qualifications

10+ years of IBM iSeries System Administration experience.
Knowledge of i/OS across multiple releases (V5R4–V7R3) and POWER systems hardware.
Experience configuring LPARs using HMC.
Familiarity with tape save/restore or software replication (MIMIX, iTera, PowerHA).
BRMS backup solutions for system recovery/migration.
Experience with OS upgrades and PTF deployment.
Proficient in CL programming and automation tools.
Excellent written and verbal communication; able to work independently.

Responsibilities

Respond to incidents and requests, delivering in-depth analysis and solutions to meet SLAs.
Proactively review issues to avoid future problems as part of Continuous Improvement.
Perform reporting tasks as required by the customer.
Prepare and participate in activities (DR testing/planning, OS upgrades, PTF deployment).
Maintain and configure IBM i OS and Licensed Programs (LPPs).
Document system configurations and procedures.
Assist customers in migration to FNTS or remote management setup.
Contribute to roadmap execution by leveraging new hardware and OS features.
