Job summary

Stratolaunch, LLC, based in Mojave, CA, seeks a Flight Sciences Engineer (Level II or Senior) to support conceptual design and aerodynamic analyses of hypersonic vehicles. Responsibilities include trajectory analysis, aero databases, CFD and wind tunnel work, and flight test support across subsonic to hypersonic regimes.

The role offers flexible locations (remote/hybrid/on-site) with travel <5%. A security clearance may be required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of aerodynamics, performance, stability & control, and atmospheric vehicle design.
• Experience with subsonic, transonic, or supersonic theory and analyses.
• Ability to self-start and prioritize to meet business goals.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
• Willing to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Perform vehicle trajectory analysis and optimization on current and future vehicles.
• Contribute to development of aerodynamic databases using analytical, numerical, ground and flight test data.
• Perform analyses to evaluate aerodynamics, performance, and stability & control of hypersonic vehicles.
• Develop aerodynamic models for various hypersonic configurations.
• Contribute to flight performance simulations through modeling and aerodynamic analyses.
• Analyze wind tunnel and flight test data as required.
• Develop advanced design tools as required.
• Support preparation of US Government/industry proposals.
• Demonstrate honesty, responsibility and integrity.
