Job summary

Stratolaunch seeks a Mechanical Systems expert to join the Technical Staff in Engineering. You will provide technical leadership in aerospace structures, kinematics, and manufacturing methods, guiding design reviews and mentoring staff.

The role involves developing engineering standards, leading high-impact problem solving, and shaping capability roadmaps. Hybrid remote/on-site work may be considered for qualified candidates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s/Master’s/Doctoral degree in a related discipline with 15+ years of experience or equivalent.
• US Citizenship with ability to obtain a DOW security clearance.
• Experience leading high-impact mechanical design reviews and programs.
• Familiarity with industry and military standards and regulatory specs.
• Ability to interact with customers and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide company-level technical leadership in review, mentorship, and problem solving.
• Lead mechanical design reviews across stages of development.
• Mentor junior engineers within the mechanical design group.
• Create standards, best practices, and common tool chains for engineering domains.
• Lead teams in high-impact problem solving and RCCA activities.
• Develop capability roadmaps and drive realization of capabilities.
• Propose IRAD projects to generate IP and future business value.
• Support white papers, proposals, and early business efforts.
• Assist recruiting and hiring activities.
