Job summary

Johnson Controls seeks a seasoned pre-sales engineer to lead HVAC controls and Building Automation System (BAS) opportunities from design through estimation and coordination with Sales, Operations, subcontractors, and digital teams.

The role emphasizes accurate cost estimation, scope development, and technical guidance to win proposals while ensuring QA/QC and strong stakeholder communication; remote work is offered with travel as needed across U.S. markets.

Qualifications

• 5 to 7 years of controls sales, applications engineering, estimating, or operations experience supporting HVAC systems and BAS
• Strong analytical, technical, and computer skills
• Experience with pre-sales development, estimating, specification interpretation
• Knowledge of building automation environment

Responsibilities

• Lead pre-sales engineering, design, and estimation for HVAC controls and BAS projects
• Develop scopes, control schematics, material lists, and cost estimates
• Support opportunity qualification and provide technical guidance to sales
• Coordinate pre-bid reviews and manage project cost data
• Prepare RFIs and RFPs, review bids, and support scope definition
• Interpret specifications and propose practical solutions
• Partner with Sales and Operations to communicate value proposition
• Collaborate with OpenBlue Digital team on integrated solutions
• Assess risks and communicate mitigation strategies
• Support project turnover with thorough documentation
• Promote QA/QC and engineering best practices
