Job summary

SOLV Energy, Inc. is seeking a Design Engineer II, Substation to own the preliminary substation design and lifecycle for utility-scale solar, battery energy storage systems, and related interconnection projects.

The role serves as the technical owner from BD kickoff through Design-to-Preconstruction handoff, aligning design basis, scope, schedule, risks, and technical assumptions before execution begins. The position is fully remote within the United States, requiring collaboration with internal

Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
Minimum 3+ years of experience in electrical substation engineering.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, ETAP or similar software.

Responsibilities

Own the first-pass preliminary substation design approach for assigned pursuits and projects, defining design basis, assumptions, equipment needs, layouts and open items for the 10% design deliverable.
Coordinate with clients, engineers, procurement, estimating, scheduling, and other disciplines to align technical inputs and scope.
Lead development of the 10% substation design including single-line diagrams and general arrangement drawings to support estimating and pricing.
Review client documents and agreements to identify requirements, risks, and scope outside SOLV standards.
Prepare and hand off engineering scope, schedule inputs, and coordination details to Preconstruction Engineering.
