SOLV Energy, Inc. is seeking a Design Engineer II, Substation to own the preliminary substation design and lifecycle for large-scale solar, BESS, and interconnections. This fully remote role works with BD through handoff, aligning design assumptions, scope, and schedules before execution begins.

You will lead 10% design developments, coordinate inputs from engineers and vendors, and mentor junior staff while ensuring alignment with project requirements and industry standards.

Competenze

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
• Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is a nice-to-have, not a must.
• Minimum of 3+ years of experience in electrical substation engineering.
• Proficiency in electrical design software (AutoCAD, ETAP, or similar).
• Strong understanding of substation design principles, protection schemes, and industry standards (IEEE, NEC, NESC).
• Familiarity with utility interconnection requirements and contract language.
• Ability to travel up to 10%.

Mansioni

• Own the first-pass preliminary substation design approach for assigned pursuits and projects.
• Review client documents and agreements to identify requirements, risks, and scope.
• Serve as primary substation design SME coordinating inputs from multiple teams.
• Lead development of the 10% substation design including diagrams and sizing.
• Coordinate with estimating and scheduling to align design, scope, and schedule.
• Review estimates for technical completeness and clarify gaps.
• Deliver preliminary design to estimating and BD per the schedule.
• Support client meetings to explain design assumptions and requirements.
• Propose cost-effective design alternatives with internal teams and clients.
• Maintain thorough design documentation and handoffs.
• Mentor junior engineers and identify training needs.
