Job summary

SOLV Energy, Inc. is seeking a Design Engineer II, Substation to own the preliminary substation design and engineering lifecycle for utility-scale solar, battery storage and related interconnection projects. This role serves as the primary technical owner from BD kickoff through Design-to-Preconstruction handoff.

This position is fully remote. The interview process will discuss location details and expectations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering is required.
• 3+ years of experience in electrical substation engineering.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, ETAP or similar design software.
• Strong understanding of substation design principles and applicable standards (IEEE, NEC, NESC).

Responsibilities

• Own preliminary substation design and technical ownership for projects up to 10% design.
• Coordinate with engineering consultants, procurement, estimating, scheduling, NERC support, and other specialty subcontractors.
• Lead development of 10% substation design, including single-line diagrams and general arrangement drawings.
• Review client documents, exhibits, and interconnection agreements to identify requirements and risks.
• Prepare and issue proposals to EORs/consultants and align with project scope and LNTP requirements.
• Handoff to Preconstruction Engineering with complete scope, risks, and open items.
