Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a Design Engineer II, Substation to own preliminary design and the engineering lifecycle for utility-scale solar, BESS, and interconnection projects. This role serves as the technical owner from kickoff through a design-to-preconstruction handoff, aligning scope, schedule, risk and assumptions for execution.

The position is fully remote; location details will be discussed in the interview.

Qualifications

• BS in electrical engineering from an accredited program.
• 3+ years of electrical substation experience.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, ETAP, or similar software.
• Knowledge of IEEE, NEC, NESC standards.
• Familiarity with interconnection requirements.

Responsibilities

• Own the first-pass preliminary substation design approach for assigned pursuits and projects.
• Coordinate inputs from engineering consultants, procurement, scheduling, and other teams.
• Lead development of the 10% substation design and related drawings for estimating.
• Review client documents, PPAs, interconnection agreements, and owner standards.
